Privacy Policy
Warranty Vault keeps your receipts and warranties in one place and reminds you before a warranty ends. There is no account and no sign in, and the receipts you save, with their photos, stay on your phone. The app is free and sells nothing. This page covers the Android and the iOS app, which behave the same way.
What the app collects
- Usage data. The app reports how it is used to Amplitude, an analytics service: that it was opened and for how long, the first launch, that a receipt was added and whether it has a warranty (never the shop, the product, the price, the photo or your notes), and error messages you saw. Amplitude adds the device model, the operating system and app version, the language, and an approximate country and city that it works out from the connection. The reports are tied to a random identifier for the install (on iOS, Apple's identifier for apps from the same developer), never to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID. You can turn this off at any time under Settings, Share anonymous usage data.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or stops responding, it sends a report to Sentry, an error tracking service: where in the app's code it happened, the device model, the operating system and app version, and how much memory was free, under a random identifier for the install. A report never contains your receipts, a screenshot or your IP address. Crash reports follow the same switch as usage data: with Share anonymous usage data off, nothing is sent.
None of this is linked to you as a person, none of it is used to track you across other apps or websites, and the app shows no ads.
Data the app keeps on your device
Your receipts (photos, shops, prices, dates, warranty lengths and notes), your reminder settings and your preferences are stored only on your phone and are never sent anywhere. Reminders are local notifications that the phone schedules itself. Anything you export goes only where you choose to send it. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
Third parties
These services receive data as described above, each under its own privacy policy, and process it for us:
- Amplitude receives the usage data. Amplitude privacy notice.
- Sentry receives the crash reports. Sentry privacy policy.
Nothing is sold, and the developer shares nothing with anyone else.
How long data is kept
Usage data is deleted from Amplitude 24 months after it arrives, and crash reports from Sentry within 90 days. Everything on the phone stays until you delete the app.
Deleting your data
Everything on the phone goes when you uninstall the app. To have the usage data and crash reports for your install deleted, write to the address below and they will be removed. Turning off Share anonymous usage data in Settings stops anything new from being sent.
Children
The app is not designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used it, contact the address below and the usage data will be deleted.
Changes
If a future version ever changes any of the above, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
