Privacy Policy
Subscription Tracker keeps a list of your recurring payments, adds up what they cost and reminds you before each renewal. There is no account and no sign in, and the app never connects to your bank. The subscriptions you enter stay on your phone. The app is free for up to five subscriptions, and a one time purchase (Pro) removes the limit. This page covers the Android and the iOS app, which behave the same way.
What the app collects
- Usage data. The app reports how it is used to Amplitude, an analytics service: that it was opened and for how long, the first launch, that a subscription was added and how often it bills (never its name, price or notes), when the Pro screen was opened and from where, whether a purchase was started, completed, failed or restored (never the amount), when an export or a backup was made or a backup restored, when insights were opened, and error messages you saw. It also sends whether Pro is owned. Amplitude adds the device model, the operating system and app version, the language, and an approximate country and city that it works out from the connection. The reports are tied to a random identifier for the install (on iOS, Apple's identifier for apps from the same developer), never to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID. You can turn this off at any time under Settings, Share anonymous usage data.
- The Pro purchase. The purchase is made through the App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat, a service that checks purchases for us, receives the store's receipt under a random identifier the app creates, so the app knows whether Pro is owned and can restore it on a new phone. The app never sees your payment details, your name or your store account.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or stops responding, it sends a report to Sentry, an error tracking service: where in the app's code it happened, the device model, the operating system and app version, and how much memory was free, under a random identifier for the install. A report never contains your subscriptions, a screenshot or your IP address. Crash reports follow the same switch as usage data: with Share anonymous usage data off, nothing is sent.
None of this is linked to you as a person, none of it is used to track you across other apps or websites, and the app shows no ads.
Data the app keeps on your device
Your subscriptions (names, prices, dates, categories, colours and notes), your reminder settings and your preferences are stored only on your phone and are never sent anywhere. Reminders are local notifications that the phone schedules itself. An exported spreadsheet or a backup file is made on the phone and goes only where you choose to send it. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored.
Third parties
These services receive data as described above, each under its own privacy policy, and process it for us:
- Amplitude receives the usage data. Amplitude privacy notice.
- RevenueCat checks the Pro purchase. RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Sentry receives the crash reports. Sentry privacy policy.
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) process the purchase.
Nothing is sold, and the developer shares nothing with anyone else.
How long data is kept
Usage data is deleted from Amplitude 24 months after it arrives, and crash reports from Sentry within 90 days. The record of the Pro purchase is kept by RevenueCat, Apple and Google for as long as it is needed to restore the purchase. Everything on the phone stays until you delete the app.
Deleting your data
Everything on the phone goes when you uninstall the app. To have the usage data, crash reports and the purchase record for your install deleted, write to the address below and they will be removed. Turning off Share anonymous usage data in Settings stops anything new from being sent.
Children
The app is not designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used it, contact the address below and the usage data will be deleted.
Changes
If a future version ever changes any of the above, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
