D&D Weights 5ePrivacy Policy
D&D Weights 5e is a free app that helps Dungeons & Dragons 5e players track encumbrance and related character data. Your characters, inventory and coins live on your device. The app is supported by ads and optional purchases, and it uses a few services to show those ads, to find crashes, and to generate character portraits. This page lists exactly what each of them sees.
What the app collects
- An anonymous account. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account with Supabase so that portrait credits and purchases can be tied to your install. No email, name or password is involved, and there is no sign-in screen.
- Usage events. The app records which screens you open and which actions you take (for example "portrait generated") and sends them to Amplitude, so the developer can see which features are used. Events carry a random install id, not your identity.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with the device model, OS version, app version and a stack trace.
- Advertising identifiers. Google AdMob shows banner and interstitial ads and may read your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure them. In the EEA and the UK you are asked for consent first, and you can change that choice from the app's settings. On iOS you can also refuse tracking under Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking. On Android, reset or limit ad tracking under Settings, Google, Ads.
- Purchases. Premium and portrait credits are bought through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The store reports which products you own so the app can turn on what you paid for. The developer never sees your payment details.
- Feedback. If you send feedback from the app, your message is stored together with your anonymous account id, device model, OS version and app version so the developer can read and act on it.
- Portrait requests. When you generate a character portrait, the attributes you picked (race, class, setting and similar), the names of the items in the character's inventory, and, if you chose to start from your own photo, that photo are sent to the developer's server. The prompt and photo are checked by OpenAI's moderation service and then passed to fal.ai, which paints the picture. The photo is never stored on the server; it passes through and is discarded. The finished portrait is stored with your anonymous account so the app can show it again and so credits can be accounted for.
Data the app handles on your device
Your characters, their inventories, coins, carry capacity and settings are kept in a local database on your device only. The developer never receives, sees or stores any of it. Character images you pick from your photo library stay on the device too. Deleting a character removes its data, and uninstalling the app removes everything local. Generated portraits and any remaining credits linked to your anonymous account can be deleted on request, see Your rights below.
Location
The app does not collect precise location. The services below may infer an approximate region from your IP address as a side effect of any network request, which is standard for an internet-connected app. That is not used for personalisation and is not shared back to the developer.
Third parties
Each of these services handles the data described above under its own privacy policy:

How the information is used
- To provide the app's features, including portrait generation and purchases.
- To diagnose bugs and crashes.
- To deliver and measure advertising in the free tier.
- To verify and restore what you have bought.
- To respond to feedback you send through the app.
Retention
Records tied to your anonymous account (credits, purchases, generated portraits, feedback) are kept for as long as that account exists. Analytics and crash data are kept according to each provider's default retention, typically up to 14 to 26 months, and may be aggregated after that. Local character data lives on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU and EEA under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal data the developer holds about you. The easiest way to ask is the feedback form in the app's settings, which attaches your anonymous account id so the right records can be found. You can also email tobdev237@gmail.com. To delete locally stored data, uninstall the app.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age where you live, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact tobdev237@gmail.com and it will be deleted.
International transfers
The services listed above are operated by companies based in the United States and other countries. By using the app you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries, whose data protection laws may differ from your own.
Changes
If a future version ever changes any of the above, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
