Privacy Policy
Bingy keeps track of the shows and movies you watch. To keep your library safe across phones it needs an account, so it stores a little about you: your email address and your library. This page says exactly what, where, and how to delete it. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking in the app.
What the app collects
Your account. Your email address, and either a password or your Google sign-in. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our account provider, never in readable form. When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture address; Bingy uses only the email address.
Your library. The shows and movies you add, which episodes and movies you have watched and when, your favourites and your Bingy settings. It is kept on your phone and backed up to your account so it survives a lost phone and reaches your other phones.
Bingy does not collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers or anything about what you do outside the app.
Where it is stored
The account and the library backup are stored with Supabase in its data centre in Frankfurt, Germany. The database lets each account read and change only its own library. Everything travels over encrypted connections.
On your phone, the library sits in the app's private storage, together with a few earlier copies of it that Bingy keeps before anything rewrites the whole library (shown under Profile, Earlier versions). Signing out removes all of it from the phone.
Third parties
TheTVDB. Show and movie details, episode lists and artwork come from TheTVDB. The app asks it for the titles you search for and the shows and movies in your library, in your phone's languages. TheTVDB sees these requests and your internet address like any website would, but never your account, your email address or what you have watched.
TVmaze. For shows that are still running, the app also asks TVmaze for episode names and air dates TheTVDB does not have yet. It sends only the show's TheTVDB number or title, and like TheTVDB, TVmaze sees your internet address but never your account or what you have watched.
Supabase stores your account and library as described above, and sends the sign-in and password reset emails you ask for.
Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Your data is never sold, shared for advertising or used to profile you.
Deleting your account and data
In the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. Your account and the library backup are deleted at once, and the phone is emptied. Your other phones are signed out and emptied within the hour.
Without the app: email tobdev237@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my Bingy account". The account and its library backup are deleted within 30 days, and you get a reply when it is done.
Nothing is kept afterwards. Your data is otherwise kept for as long as you have an account.
Children
Bingy is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly hold accounts for them. If you believe a child has made an account, email us and it will be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or have it deleted at any time, by email. If you live in the EU or EEA you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If a future version changes any of the above, for example by adding analytics, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the app's release notes.
